Brigham Young teammates Whittni Orton and Anna Camp-Bennett took on the women's basketball mile challenge Sept. 4 at the school's Clarence F. Robison Track and Field Complex. Orton set the world record by clocking 4:58.56 and Camp-Bennett finished in 5:10.37. Orton eclipsed the previous record of 5:08.57 set July 24 by Sydney Masciarelli, a senior at Marianapolis Prep in Connecticut who has verbally committed to North Carolina. Since the challenge was completed at 4,550 feet elevation in Provo, Utah, with the altitude adjustment, Orton's time would convert to 4:52.71.
