BYU junior Conner Mantz, competing unattached, placed third in the men's 5,000-meter race in 13:51.22 at the KT Tape St. George Showdown at Desert Hills High in St. George, Utah. Although Mantz has participated in several time trials in the mile and 3,200 meters during the spring and summer, this was his first official race since placing third Nov. 23 at the NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
