BYU Coaches Ed Eyestone and Diljeet Taylor on Conner Mantz and Whittni Orton-Morgan Sweeping Titles - NCAA D1 Cross Country Championships 2021
Published by
Brigham Young men's coach Ed Eyestone and women's coach Diljeet Taylor reflect on the individual title sweep of Conner Mantz and Whittni Orton-Morgan at the NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. Mantz became the first male athlete to repeat since Oregon's Edward Cheserek won three in a row from 2013-15, in addition to becoming the first American-born men's back-to-back winner since Oregon's Steve Prefontaine in 1970-71. Orton-Morgan became the first women's individual champion in BYU history, after helping the Cougars capture their first team title March 15 in Stillwater, Okla. Mantz and Orton-Morgan became the first teammates since Indiana's Bob Kennedy and Michelle Dekkers in 1988 to sweep the Division 1 individual titles. More videos |
