Conner Mantz completed an unbeaten season for Brigham Young by repeating as NCAA Division 1 men's cross country champion by covering the 10-kilometer course in 28:33.1 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. Mantz became the first male athlete to repeat as champion since Oregon's Edward Cheserek won three in a row from 2013-15. He also became the first American-born competitor to secure back-to-back titles since Oregon's Steve Prefontaine in 1970-71. Mantz helped BYU place seventh overall with 246 points. Mantz and Whittni Orton-Morgan became the first teammates to sweep men's and women's individual national titles since Indiana's Bob Kennedy and Michelle Dekkers in 1988. More videos |
